Like many web developers, my career path started with something entirely different than designing websites. I received my journalism degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and after graduation I moved to Truckee (a small town north of Lake Tahoe). For the next four years, I cut my teeth in design and content management as the asistant editor of the Sierra Sun newspaper.
After that time, I knew I wanted to stay in Tahoe, but understood I would have to find a different career if I wanted to work, live and play in Tahoe long-term.
In 2006, I took an HTML class, fell in love with website development, and the rest is history.
I was director of web development at Truckee-based SmallPond Studio for five years. At SmallPond, I worked with a small, extremely talented group of designers to build a strong portfolio of websites. With SmallPond, I custom-built more than 80 websites and managed more than 100 projects. We built sites for businesses of all sizes – nonprofits, startups, public agencies, and international corporations. At SmallPond, I was responsible for all technical aspects of our website projects – from project management to full-stack development, from content writing to content editing.
These days, I live in Kings Beach (North Lake Tahoe). Aside from web development, I enjoy playing soccer, snowboarding, reading, traveling, and spending time at the beach with my kids. In my spare time, I coach my little guy's AYSO soccer team, help out weekly in my kids' classrooms, and serve on the board for the Kings Beach Friends of the Library.
Enough about me. I'd love to hear more about you! Get in touch.
