Like many web developers, my career path started with something entirely different than designing websites. I received my journalism degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and after graduation I moved to Truckee (a small town north of Lake Tahoe). For the next four years, I cut my teeth in design and content management as the asistant editor of the Sierra Sun newspaper.
After that time, I knew I wanted to stay in Tahoe, but understood I would have to find a different career if I wanted to work, live and play in Tahoe long-term.
In 2006, I took an HTML class, fell in love with website development, and the rest is history.
I was director of web development at Truckee-based SmallPond Studio for five years. At SmallPond, I worked with a small, extremely talented group of designers to build a strong portfolio of websites. With SmallPond, I custom-built more than 80 websites and managed more than 100 projects. We built sites for businesses of all sizes – nonprofits, startups, public agencies, and international corporations. At SmallPond, I was responsible for all technical aspects of our website projects – from project management to full-stack development, from content writing to content editing.
These days, I live in Kings Beach (North Lake Tahoe) with my husband and two kids. Aside from nerding out on web development, I enjoy playing soccer, snowboarding, reading, traveling, and spending time at the beach with my kids. In my spare time, I volunteer for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and KidZone Museum, and I coach my little guy's AYSO soccer team.
Enough about me. I'd love to hear more about you! Get in touch.
